On Tuesday, May 14th, 2019, the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) celebrated their 15th year Anniversary in Marriott Hotel, Addis Ababa.During the celebration, a short video clip was launched about a strong Ethiopian woman who lives with HIV AIDS and was able to survive through it with support from PEPFAR.USAID’s strategic information advisor Mr Silesh Kasa said, "This new launched video will have a great impact for our society, because human beings by nature are more interested on visual and tangible things than oral or written words, so we chose this medium to teach, inspire and inform our society to use HIV AIDS life prolongation medicine and increase life expectancy".In addition, a press briefing was held to share highlights of the US government’s long-standing support to the HIV AIDS response and activities geared towards achieving epidemic control in Ethiopia.Various government, national, and international organizations participated in the celebration ceremony, which was prepared by the U.S. Embassy and USAID, PEPFAR, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Ethiopian government.PEPFAR was launched in 2003 by President George W. Bush to combat the global HIV AIDS epidemic.
