Due to the war between the Federal Government and the Tigray Region's Administration over the last two years, young people receiving medical attention at the Meles Campus protested for not being able to receive adequate medical care and food.
"Medical follow-up and everything that is said to be necessary should be given to us, but we should not be deprived of attention. Yesterday we were told there was no food, and we were punished by hunger. This is not appropriate for us; it is not fair," said Kiros Haile, a young man who lost both legs as a result of the war.
"We lost our hands, legs, and eyes for the sake of our people's peace and dignity," the protesters said at the rally, demanding that the Government provide them with proper medical care and food.
According to the protesters, the lack of food supply and lack of attention from the Tigray Regional Administration incited them to stage a peaceful demonstration.
Many Tigray youths were injured during the two-year war between the Federal Government and Tigray's Regional Administration, and over 3000 injured people participated in the peaceful demonstration.
