Ethio Telecom partners with private firms to launch music streaming, cloud computing, and mobile database services.

The state-owned telecom operator said it forged partnerships with Kulu Network PLC for rendering Elf music streaming service, with Zergaw Internet Service Provider on providing cloud solution services, and with Shedli Trading PLC for Teledrive mobile database services.

Elf music mobile App is announced to be launched on the day of the partnership agreement. The music streaming service enables customers to purchase their favorite music and listen to music anytime without mobile data including online radio programs in five languages.

Ethio Telecom issued a call of proposals for music streaming service providers in February 2022 in addition to its invitation to interested applicants for streaming/IPTV service providers.

Mesay Woubshet, Ethio Telecom’s head of Communication told Addis Zeybe at the time that they have been considering adding streaming platforms to their value-added services and that Ethio telecom’s current infrastructure is capable of providing the service in better quality.

The cloud service to be provided in partnership with Zergaw Internet Service Provider will be delivering cloud solutions in different options called Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud platform and Software as a Service (SaaS), a software sales alternative.

Teledrive mobile database service, on the other hand, enables customers to store large volume files like pictures/photos, videos, SMS, contact numbers, and other critical files in a secured cloud database and can access them in times of need.

Customers can download Teledrive App from the App Store or Play Store and settle service payments via Telebirr.

Sewasew, a music streaming service that is aggressively operating in Ethiopia’s music industry, is currently working in an exclusive partnership with Ethio Telecom. One of the country’s first music streaming apps, Awtar, also collaborated with Ethio Telecom in the early days of its launch.

Music streaming services have shown remarkable interest and launched operations in Ethiopia this year such as Sewasew and the international platform Spotify now followed by Ethio Telecom’s Elf Music.
