(Addis Zeybe: Addis Ababa) The Ethiopian Political Parties Joint Council (EPPJC) denounced Washington’s Federalist and Confederalist alliance of Ethiopian political parties saying that their motives are orchestrated by the terrorist “TPLF” and are unacceptable by Ethiopians.

“Ethiopians haven’t ever and will never accept any puppet government enthroned for them by international or local forces,” according to the Council’s statement.

Nine Ethiopian armed and political opposition groups in Washington DC formed a new alliance on Nov. 5 with a goal of ousting the Ethiopian government and forming a transitional authority. Responding to the parties’ alliance, the Ethiopian government Minister of Justice, Gedeon Themotheos dismissed the coalition as “Publicity Stunt.”

“We have observed the ill-motives of some foreign media, governments, institutions, and individuals in the propaganda they are fabricating as if the country has downfallen, followed by the individuals in North America who claimed to form a Federalist and Confederalist alliance spearhead by TPLF, a designated terrorist by the Ethiopian parliament. This shows their misunderstanding of the Ethiopian people and the depth of the evil intent being waged to take the country into chaos. Throughout history, the Ethiopian people haven’t ever and will never accept a puppet government enthroned for them by local or international forces, except the government they have elected and recognized by themselves. And we will not also accept any coalition that threatens the sovereignty of the country,” reads EPPJC’s statement

The Council called upon all citizens, mainly members of the former military and those with military skills to defend their nation from internal and external threats, the federal government and every citizen to give priority to support citizens displaced by the conflict, law enforcement agencies to be considerate in avoiding inappropriate abuse (especially on Tigreans) while executing the State of Emergency, and the government to embark on organizing the national reconciliation process without its intervention.

The Ethiopian Political Parties Joint Council (EPPJC) is an assembly of Ethiopian parties actively participating in the political landscape including prominent parties such as Prosperity Party, Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice, Enat Party, and Amhara National Movement.
